Personal Tutorial_WEEKLY REVIEW

After having my first one-to-one tutorial with Kristina, I feel I’ve gained a lot of clarity. She encouraged us to record one inspiring place or moment each day. I organised all my inspirations on FigJam — but when explaining this messy map to her, I realised that my research has been too broad and scattered. I’ve been expanding from one word or image to another without a clear core, staying on the surface rather than going deep.

Kristina acutely noticed this. When she asked why I wanted to work with certain materials or ideas — for example, the pumpkin — I realised I couldn’t trace a strong conceptual thread behind my choices. She then recommended some readings on plants, including How Forests Think, which I happened to be reading already.

The most valuable question she asked was: If you forget about everything else and just follow your intuition, what do you genuinely want to do? For me, maybe it’s the fascination with the inner life of plant— the invisible structures and internal systems that sustain them, and how we sense and communicate with plants. I want to explore those unseen layers and find ways to make them perceptible.
