Tutorial Topic : Dyslexia

I chose to explore a subject I’d previously contemplated—reading difficulties. In today’s streaming era, young people are gradually losing the ability to sit quietly and finish a book. I feel this has affected me too, as I find myself setting aside a book for mere moments when a subscription notification pops up on my phone, even when I intend to read for extended periods. I believe it’s vital for audiences to recognise the existence of reading difficulties.

With this initial concept in mind, I began developing the project’s framework. During Wednesday’s tutorial with Professor Atif, we explored the depth and specifics of the concept. Our primary concern was the project’s direction, considering three potential approaches: addressing dyslexia itself, enabling audiences to experience the frustrations and difficulties it causes, or examining its underlying causes. Ultimately, I decided to combine enabling audiences to experience dyslexia with demonstrating its causes, while incorporating personal narratives to make the work’s storytelling more personal.
